Yuletide

It's finally here (and almost gone): Christmas day!

We got started rather late and lagged the entire day (typical in our Crazy Family, us children have given up on waking early long ago as our parents are lethargic until around ten or eleven anyway), but overall it was surprisingly cheerful and merry (I suppose the excellent bottle of 2005 Sauterne Mother managed to obtain helped somewhat).

A White Christmas was apparently had by most of Texas (aside from, of course, the City Back Home--it rained) with record snowstorms and blizzards in West Texas and even as close as Big Huge City and Ridiculously Large City Of Cowboys.

I hope you have all had a wonderful day and enjoyed yourselves as much as I did! Merry Christmas! (No need to stop celebrating, I especially like this time of year because it is acceptable to keep eating and being merry all until New Year's.)

Christmas Morning hot chocolate (or anytime you feel like it, really):

7oz bittersweet chocolate
2 cups whole milk
1 cup water
2 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Optional: a dash of vanilla or cinnamon or 6 tbsp strong coffee or 3 tbsp rum (or all of them if you feel adventurous)

Finely chop the chocolate. In a saucepan, combine the milk, water, cocoa powder and vanilla/coffee/cinnamon and bring to a boil. As soon as the mixture boils, add the chopped chocolate and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally.

This recipe makes a very rich and slightly bitter hot chocolate. Consume with moderation as it tends to cause excessive Christmas cheer. Enjoy!

To do:
-Pack suitcase
-Buy presents for relatives
-Move everything to bigger suitcase as there is no more room left for presents
-Watch sappy British romantic comedies with Sister and her best friend (I am incapable of resisting to the appeal of Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Alan Rickman, and others all in the same movie.)
-Write and set up automated posts for the next two weeks
-Breathe and enjoy life.

GB, the Glad Game is the best thing you've taught me, and I cannot be more grateful. Thank you.

Thank you all so much for your kind and funny thoughts.

I read the socks posting first. My first visit to Blogland for a few days.

You are very welcome. You have made an old(ish) man very happy on a number of occasions - this is one of them.

WV = phopse. Hmmm.

PS Travel safely. Enjoy your visit. I'm sure you will. Please say 'Hi' to France for me. It'll be six months before I'm there.
