With luck, some planning, a strange turn of circumstances, a wing and a prayer, I ended up visiting the teachers at my old elementary school.
I bought bright yellow flowers, bravely walked up the steps, and was instantly greeted by a massive hug from my teacher, who had seen me through the window and instantly recognized me--after seven years!
The last time I saw her, she was pregnant and I had just attended her wedding. Now, she has a five-year-old son in kindergarten.
The sixth grade classrooms were moved from the second floor of the school out to the wooden annex nicknamed "The White House."
I can't describe how wonderful it was to see her again.
She promised to invite me to dinner sometimes. I am quite excited. And happy.
