For once, I got my homework done early. Then I played hog-the-laundry-room and did a giant load of laundry (or three). Then I had time to make a thank-you card for a professor who is writing me recommendation letters for summer programs. And then I cleaned my desk.
I didn't get much reading done, but at least it wasn't a wasted day. I'm quite proud.
(That desk had newspapers from last October, for goodness' sake! I haven't seen the surface of the thing for at least three months!)
(Also, I have been discovering/rediscovering French pop music. My, my, we have talented voices. And good lyrics. Olivia Ruiz has a very French style. I guess her songs only make sense if you understand French, but if you do they are very beautiful.)
(I was shocked to find that she sang a classic George Brassens, I found it even better than the original. She sings it with such emotion and style. Just listening to the way she sings makes you blush [as should any respectable George Brassens song, of course] ['respectable' being a manner of speaking]. Oh, how I love the classics!)

My French is reasonable but I find understanding French songs very difficult. When listening to a forewign language I think we understand a lot thanks to the intonation and the sentence construction. In songs, neither of those things is normal. Nevertheless the Olivia Ruiz was most enjoyable. Simply hearing a female French accent sends shivers up my shine. (That's a British male thing!)
I'm quite interested in what a shiver up one's shine (sic) is like.
