Tonight was supposed to be another Star Trek movie night, with a special showing of "Wrath of Khan" at Local Theater (Paramount decided to give us an actual showing after last month's "disappointment"). We had all been looking forward to it for weeks.
Tonight, however, Crazy Redhead Mathematically-Inclined Friend announced that she really ought to catch up on the work she missed due to sickness last week, which put a damper on everyone's spirits. When she learned the news, Friend Who Likes Science Fiction realized that maybe she ought to get a good night's sleep before her Chemistry exam tomorrow. Halfheartedly, everyone else admitted that they ought to do homework and studying too.
So we are not going.
Instead, we are going to watch it on someone's computer Friday after classes end. It won't be the same as seeing it on the big screen, but at least we'll have seen the movie. And, if Friend Who Likes Science Fiction's plan works out, we can lobby for it to be a part of the Classics Series of Late-Night Movies at Student Building (with the new movie in the Blockbuster Series that same week). Who knows, it might work?
I really shouldn't complain, though. We are, for real, going to see the release of the movie tomorrow and then next Sunday at the IMAX theater for Crazy Redhead Mathematically-Inclined Friend's birthday. Three times in a month and a half, pretty decent, wouldn't you think?
It seems rather excessive for just a movie, but this is not just "a" movie. It's culture (sci-fi, granted, but culture nonetheless), the stuff of several generations. The new movie is excellent in both technique and story, and the older ones, although they often have ridiculous acting, are very enjoyable and provide interesting insights/commentary about people in general (Side note: I feel like I'm writing an essay for an English class...).
***
Anyway, instead of being at the movies, I am sitting in front of my computer feeling slightly miserable, dreading the cough that I feel coming on and the next fews days of hell it will give me, drinking herbal tea, vitamin supplements, and orange juice to help it go as fast as possible, and answering thousands of ads for apartments for this summer.
And, of course, studying. (No progress yet on the packing.)

At least you have the weekend to look forward to.
All I can say is may good luck go with you.
Just to let you know, the book club discussion has begun. Yay! We are officially members of the literati.
