Going to meet my (match)maker

Girl From Nicaragua is defending her dissertation on Monday.

Accordingly, various relatives (from Nicaragua, Chile, the Honduras, and Guatemala) have come to visit and are now staying at the apartment.

Apparently, her last roommate was named Claudia, but she neglected to tell her family that she had moved and was now living with someone not only whose name was not Claudia, but was also not a native Spanish speaker. I can mangle my way around a basic conversation, but I confused myself and I accidentally started talking German because I couldn't remember Spanish for "excuse me". Fortunately, they caught on and switched to English.

Then, later this evening, after my roommate took them on a tour of the City, I was enthusiastically greeted by her aunt as I came down the stairs for a drink of water.

"Claudia!" (Roommate: Wrong name, Auntie Rosa) "We found for you a boyfriend!" (She already has a boyfriend, Auntie Rosa.) "He's handsome!" (He's French, too.) "He said he was Frances, but I think he is from Ukrainia." (Uh, I do already have a boyfriend, Auntie Rosa...) "He very handsome. Next time, we take you, you see him! You can have two boyfriends!"

This is going to be a very interesting week.

That's the first thing to give me a good laugh this morning. Thanks. I look forward the next instalment!
