Karmically yours

The day started with the water being cut off while I was still in the shower.

After that, though, it was one of the most perfect days ever. Plenty of comments awaited me here, the Non-Albino Squirrel made an appearance, a single colony growing on a plate in lab turned out, on the very first try, to be exactly what I wanted, it purified without a glitch, Proust is turning out to be quite enjoyable, fifty new members (including two new Highly Selective Science Program students, there are so few that this orientation only had those two in attendance, and both recognized me from Friday Lunch) were recruited for Geeky Science Organization, I explained the finer points of PCR to The Boy, and Sis received my package and called me to say she loved her birthday present.

I had leftover risotto and gingersnaps for lunch, and cheesecake for dessert at dinner (I thought of you, GB!)

Days like this make me happy to be alive (not that most days don't, but this one made me extra-happy.) I hope your day was just as wonderful!

The worst - and I mean very worst - bit of my degree was reading Proust in the original French (which I assume you are doing). I love a lot of French literature but Proust was not on my wavelength. I'm met people who found Prost OK but now I can say I know of someone who enjoyed it - Wow.

Oh gosh. It sounded such a Good Day (after the shower) until you mentioned Proust. Fortunately I've never had to read it. Whe I was in my 'must know what I'm misiing' phase many many years ago I read a synopsis. I can't even remember the colour of its cover!

And I thought I'd done well today buying Nietzsche. I hadn't read any since Uni and Friend Who Knows Too Much constantly defeats me in discussions about Voltaire and Nietzsche.

I took up the book after deciding that I Really Ought To Bring My Culture Up To Scratch, Young Lady. So far (fifty pages in, the world is distracting) I like the ideas, although the descriptions are lengthy for my taste. There is much yet left to read, who knows what may happen?

On a related note (and I never expected to say this) I am considering re-reading Moby Dick. Perhaps the heat has addled my brains.

That must be it. I've finally gone bonkers.

Ah. Bonkers. Yes. Welcome to the real world. 'Sanity is an allusion' Discuss.
