My castle in Spain

I've always dreamed of making a giant combination blanket/pillow fort, then sleeping in it. Last night was almost the realization of that dream. For the four of us, we hauled thirteen pillows, two sleeping bags, five mats, eight blankets, seven flashlights, three iPods, and ten books. Needless to say, it was quite fun.

There were a couple of setbacks due to the fact that, you know, we're in December (but not for long!). I slept with a sweater, socks, gloves, and a scarf on, yet managed to almost freeze to death. Additionally, waking up with condensation on your nose at four in the morning is not the most pleasant of feelings, but no one caught pneumonia, which I suppose could be called a success. The tent was soaking wet and most of the books (my internal library-ghoul was twitching at the mere thought) were warped from the humidity. We'd forgotten about the whole "four people breathing in enclosed spaces during cold weather creates condensation" thing. Lesson learned, I suppose...

Other than that, it was quite a lovely night. Sis had painted her nails with glow-in-the-dark polish for the occasion, and we spent most of the night looking up videos on YouTube through the faint WiFi coming from the house, listening to Mark Knopfler the Pink Panther soundtrack.

Very Smart Neighbor's mother, who is without doubt the most amazing woman on the face of the planet, suprised us with a tray of delicious hot chocolate and pancakes in the morning.

I must say, it was a success.

(Also due in great part to a long phonecall from The Boy late at night, but that's another story.)
