Project Partner gave me a bottle of Famous Coffee Franchise's vanilla cold coffee drink to keep me awake through the night as I do what was supposed to be his part in the statistics project. I shouldn't have taken it.
Apparently, I have no caffeine resistance whatsoever, as I have taken but three sips, not even a fourth of the bottle, and I am bouncing off the walls.
My roommate is snoring, as per usual, and I am constantly running after my train of thought, which is whizzing by at a thousand miles per hour.
Someone is taking a shower. At nearly three in the morning. No matter what time of the day or the night, someone always seems to be taking a shower.
The ceiling has begun to leak again. They put a bucket in the hallway to catch the drips. Yet another disadvantage to living on the tenth floor. Since our water pressure is so lousy anyway, maybe they'll let us use the leaks for the showers?
I really should finish editing this paper. And then try to sleep, although I highly doubt I will be able to. Tomorrow will be fun, I can feel it from here.
I do solemnly swear I will never again in my life touch coffee, except in an emergency.

Are you in grad school right now? The thing about coffee is surprising; I don't drink it regularly, but I do have it from time to time.
I love Famous Coffee Chain's delicious frappucinoes.
I still have some way to go before grad school, I am still an undergrad.
One of my friends had a similar experience last year, she had an entire cup (!) of black coffee and didn't sleep for two nights straight.
And their frappucinoes are indeed delicious, what small amount of them I can manage!
I've never understood this thing about Americans and coffee. We drink it all the time over here and never seem to be affected. Does your coffee have more caffeine in it or are we just so adjusted (maladjusted) to it that we don't get hyper on it any more? Which reminds me - I've been up an hour and haven't had a cup yet - bye for now..... Zip, zip, zip, whee....
How odd. I was going to say something along the lines of Scriptor but qualify it. Coffee doesn't affect me. I sleep the sleep of the dead and am only manic when awake! (Quad erat demonstrandum or something Latin anyway.) However my wife was very much affected by it and had serious withdrawal symptons for weeks when she gave it up. Similarly a close friend here in NZ gets totally hyper after a single cup of the Good Stuff.
I think this subject falls into my late son's category of "It's a funny old world, Dad."
