The Genetics prof got so carried away talking about plants that she forgot about the time. (Who wouldn't? Plants are fascinating! I actually learned something I didn't know before! Did you know plants had two kinds of circulatory systems? Not xylem and phloem, which are two different kinds of cells, but symplast and apoplast, which are intracellular and extracellular? Absolutely fascinating.)
Anyway, the point is, she forgot about the time yet managed to cram a quiz in the last thirty seconds of class, as everyone was eagerly putting up their notes and looking at the door.
Bummer.

"I actually learned something I didn't know before!" Isn't that the whole point of the exercise?
Word verification = sequal. Someone can't spell.
I tend to brag a bit about Biology, I admit...
(I once got a word verification that was all Ms and Ns and Es, but actually looked like a word. Those are weird. Especially when they *do* [mis]spell a word)
