I've been trying to write this for quite some time now, but, curiously, the words didn't want to come. I can't put it off any longer, doing so would be ungrateful and standoffish on my part. So, here I am, and I shall try to make the best of it.
Barely a week ago, I received glowing comments from Scriptor Senex and Graham on one of my posts. I was shocked, surprised, in awe, in tears. Someone, unbiased by family ties, professorial status, friendship, enmity, or other such entanglement, had read what I wrote, and liked it.
More than liked it.
Anna Gavalda has been, for several years, one of my favorite authors. I admire her way of making the characters come to life as real people, in stories to both warm your heart yet make you aware of your own faults. She is truly inspiring.
To be compared to her is a great honor, praise which I do not think I deserve. My tale was not, in fact, a tale, but a memory, a real one. I lack the ability to create and give life to stories as she does. I can only do my best to retell and relive the moments of my life that have marked me the most.
Graham, Scriptor Senex, I cannot thank you enough for giving me this gift of a reader's appreciation. It is priceless, even more so in that you are both serious writers and seasoned readers.
Thank you again.

Gosh! I am astonished to hear you say that you do not feel that you have the ability to give life to stories as Anna Gavalda does. I have been discussing her books with a friend and would, even in this short time, re-write that which I wrote about Hunting and Gathering. I think that she is a remarkably perceptive person with an ability to convey character many authors do not come close to possessing. Your ability to convey a story (whether it is tale or truth is irrelevant) is, in my very humble opinion and on the basis of The Day I Met Her and the Life That Followed, up there with Anna's short stories.
I have to say, too, that your blog postings are now firmly part of my daily reading.
No more than you deserve!
